This is a full-time, on-site Lecturer role located in St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. The Lecturer will be responsible for teaching and delivering course materials, developing and updating course content, assessing student performance, and conducting research. Start date: September 2026.

Job Description

The Department of Chemical Engineering invites applications for 'Lecturer' (one‑year contract) within the Petroleum Geoscience Programme. The appointee will contribute to undergraduate teaching, assessment, student supervision, and academic service within the Department.

Duties include the teaching and coordinating of introductory courses in geology and petroleum geoscience, with priority given to petroleum geochemistry. The candidate is also expected to supervise undergraduate research projects and seminars. Other administrative responsibilities include student advising and assisting in Departmental committees. Experience with examination duties is a plus.

Applicants must possess at least a postgraduate degree in geoscience, earth science or other science and engineering degree, OR demonstrable industry experience in petroleum geochemistry and/or the teaching of petroleum geoscience. A PhD and previous experience in geoscience teaching and professional practice would be an asset. Applicants should be a citizen of a Caricom member state and are expected to be resident in Trinidad for the duration of the contract (at their own cost).
