The Sr. Litigation Attorney is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the end-to-end recovery of distressed assets and the enforcement of contractual obligations. Beyond individual casework, this role functions as a Legal Operations Lead, overseeing the efficiency of external counsel and ensuring that the litigation portfolio moves through the judicial system with urgency and precision.

Role Description:

1. Strategic Litigation & Portfolio Management

Direct Advocacy: Lead high-value or complex litigation matters in the Bahamian courts, focusing on contract enforcement, debt recovery, and real estate disputes.
Procedural Advancement: Actively monitor the lifecycle of every account in litigation. Identify and resolve procedural bottlenecks to ensure cases do not stagnate in the court system.
Risk & Compliance: Ensure all collection activities strictly adhere to the Bahamas’ legal regulatory framework, mitigating reputational and legal risk.

2. Management of External Firms

Performance Oversight: Serve as the primary liaison for all external law firms. Set clear expectations regarding timelines, deliverables, and success rates.
Reporting & Updates: Standardize the process for requesting and receiving regular legal updates. Synthesize these reports for internal executive review.
Audit & Strategy: Conduct periodic "file audits" with external firms to ensure they are pursuing the most efficient legal avenues for recovery and to confirm the accuracy of their filings.

3. Advisory & Contract Law

Internal Consulting: Act as a subject matter expert for internal departments on business law, credit risk, and the legalities of contract formation.
Document Engineering: Prepare, review, and refine complex legal instruments, including settlement agreements, affidavits, and writs of execution.

Qualifications:

Legal Expertise: Strong mastery of Bahamian Civil Procedure, Real Estate Law (including mortgages and foreclosures - HOPA Act), and the Law of Contract.
Strategic Oversight: Proven ability to manage a high volume of cases simultaneously while maintaining a "big picture" view of the entire portfolio.
Negotiation & Influence: Advanced negotiation skills to settle disputes before trial when beneficial, and the professional presence to hold external firms accountable.
Credentials: Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB; Mandatory Bar Admission in The Bahamas.
Experience: 2+ years of experience in litigation, with a strong preference for candidates who have managed external legal vendors or large collection portfolios.

Compensation:

Base Salary: BSD $3,500 – $4,000 per month (Commensurate with experience).
Performance Incentives: Quarterly variable compensation based on portfolio recovery targets and procedural efficiency KPIs.
Location: Full-time, On-site (Nassau).
