Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in South Eleuthera, The Bahamas. The Perishables Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operations of the perishables department. Responsibilities include managing inventory, ensuring proper storage and display of perishable items, maintaining quality and compliance with food safety standards, training and overseeing staff, and coordinating with suppliers. The Perishables Supervisor will also work to optimize inventory turnover and minimize waste, while providing excellent service to customers and ensuring operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Knowledge of food safety standards, quality control, and inventory management for perishables
Leadership and team management skills, including training and mentoring staff
Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Experience with purchasing, pricing, and supplier coordination in a retail or grocery setting
Capability to work on-site and adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment
Previous experience in a supervisory or similar role within the perishables sector preferred
A high school diploma or equivalent is required; additional certifications in food safety or management are a plus
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a grocery or retail environment, preferably in perishable foods.
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs), and work in temperature-controlled environments (cold storage).

Job location and working hours:

The Market Supermarket, Rock Sound, Eleuthera. Mondays through Saturdays 8am to 4:30pm
