Role Overview

We are hiring an Offshore Oil Markets & Energy Economics Analyst to support advisory and research work focused on oil market dynamics, offshore production systems, crude export flows, energy-sector investment, and the broader economic implications of hydrocarbon development.

Based in Georgetown, the Analyst will contribute to structured oil market briefs, production outlook notes, trade-flow assessments, stakeholder maps, and energy-sector intelligence materials for public institutions, infrastructure stakeholders, development partners, and private-sector actors. The work will frequently intersect with offshore oil production, FPSO operations, crude lifting schedules, export logistics, oil price dynamics, government revenue exposure, local content policy, energy infrastructure, and the role of Guyana in Atlantic Basin and global oil markets.

This role is designed for candidates who can analyze oil markets not only through price movements, but as a practical system shaped by production capacity, upstream investment, shipping logistics, crude quality, fiscal regimes, regulatory conditions, geopolitical risk, and long-term demand scenarios.

You will play a key role in translating oil market and energy-sector developments into clear strategic and operational insights—helping stakeholders understand how production growth, export flows, market volatility, and policy decisions affect investment planning, infrastructure needs, fiscal stability, and economic development.

Key Responsibilities

Track and analyze oil market developments, including crude price trends, supply-demand balances, inventory movements, production forecasts, and export-flow shifts
Produce structured oil market briefs, production outlook notes, trade-flow assessments, stakeholder maps, and energy-sector reports
Monitor offshore production developments, FPSO capacity, drilling activity, project timelines, crude lifting schedules, and upstream investment announcements
Analyze Guyana’s positioning within Atlantic Basin oil trade, including crude exports, shipping routes, buyer markets, logistics constraints, and price differentials
Assess how oil market volatility, OPEC+ decisions, global demand shifts, sanctions, freight costs, and refinery demand affect crude trade and revenue expectations
Research fiscal regimes, local content policies, production-sharing arrangements, regulatory developments, and institutional capacity issues affecting the oil sector
Map stakeholders across government agencies, oil companies, service providers, port and logistics operators, regulators, investors, development partners, and policy networks
Support analysis of oil-sector infrastructure needs, including ports, shore bases, storage, power systems, logistics services, supply bases, and workforce development
Contribute to advisory materials on energy-sector development, oil revenue exposure, infrastructure prioritization, investment risk, and local economic linkages
Prepare concise rapid-response notes on major oil market movements, production announcements, regulatory changes, investment decisions, or geopolitical events affecting the sector
Support dashboards and KPI frameworks for oil market monitoring, production tracking, export flows, price exposure, and energy-sector competitiveness

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Energy Economics, Economics, International Trade, Finance, Petroleum Studies, Political Economy, Public Policy, Maritime/Logistics, or a related field
2–5 years of experience in oil market analysis, energy research, commodities intelligence, offshore oil research, trade-flow analysis, infrastructure advisory, or economic consulting
Strong understanding of crude oil markets, offshore production systems, supply-demand fundamentals, pricing dynamics, export logistics, and energy-sector investment cycles
Familiarity with Guyana’s offshore oil sector, Atlantic Basin crude markets, FPSO operations, local content policy, fiscal regimes, or energy infrastructure is strongly preferred
Experience working with consultancies, energy companies, commodity research firms, government institutions, DFIs, investors, think tanks, or infrastructure-focused organizations is a plus
Excellent analytical writing skills with the ability to translate market, technical, and policy complexity into clear practical recommendations
Fluency in English is required
