National UNV assignment – Guyana

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), through the Cartagena Convention Secretariat and the Caribbean Environment Programme (CEP), is implementing the PROMAR Project to prevent marine litter and promote circular economy solutions across five Caribbean countries. The project works with regional partners to reduce plastic waste entering marine ecosystems and to strengthen policy dialogue, monitoring systems, and stakeholder awareness.

To amplify impact, UNEP is seeking a Communications and Social Media Specialist – PROMAR to lead dynamic digital engagement and storytelling across the region.

What you will do

Manage and grow PROMAR’s social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
Publish 2–3 weekly posts per platform, stories, reels and one monthly partner article
Curate visual content in coordination with country partners
Engage daily with followers and regional stakeholders
Support website updates and event communications
Attend events and produce communications coverage
Submit quarterly progress reports and participate in monthly project meetings

Apply if you meet the following:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Social Media Management, or related field (or relevant experience)
Strong writing and digital storytelling skills
Proven experience managing multi-platform social media accounts
Fluent English (required) | Working knowledge of Spanish (desirable)
Excellent organization, creativity, and ability to work independently
National, Legal resident, refugee status holder, or CARICOM Skills Certificate holder
