The ideal candidate will support the Estimating Department by reviewing Request for Proposals (RFPs) for project scope definition, measurement of quantities, preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and request quotes for materials from suppliers.

Responsibilities

Review of Request for Proposals (RFPs) for project scope definition.
Prepare quantity take-offs for all tenders.
Source items and request quotations from suppliers for tenders.
Develop and populate Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for the pricing of tenders.
Project site visits as and when required.
Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Senior Estimator
Assist with the preparation of Tender Control forms.
Assist with soliciting prices for bonds and insurances.
Assist with the preparation of the preliminaries.
Make recommendations for the provision of equipment, plant and scaffolding on projects.
Make recommendation for optimising profitability on tenders.
Identifies opportunities in tenders.
Identify risks in tenders that need to be considered and make recommendations for close outs or mitigation.
Attend registration meetings with clients.
Develop RFI’s and clarifications to ensure adequate scope of works and subcontractors’ concerns are dealt with. Review all RFP and tender documents and determine if there any gaps.
Assist with modelling presentations to clients.
Assist with the documentation, preparation, and presentation of the bid package to the Operations Team for successful bids.
Ensure that most current bid information is stored electronically on the shared drive and hardcopy filed.
Maintain log of Suppliers and trades
Maintain log of taxes and duties for various Caribbean islands
Maintain log of current Labour Only rates
Develop unit rates for tender estimates.
Develop preliminary project costs/budgets.
Perform value engineering analyses.
Assist with tender negotiations, as required.
Assist with client proposals/presentations, as required.
Assist with handover documents to the project management team, as required.
Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Estimating Manager.

Experience

At least five (5) years’ commercial and estimating experience. Five (5) years construction experience.
Knowledge of standard conditions of contracts.
Knowledge of standard methods of measurement.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.

Qualifications

BSc. in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering.
