In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers.

In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.

Field Civil Engineer - Concrete

G Mining is seeking a skilled Field Civil Engineer to join our team for the Oko West gold mine project in Guyana. This role involves a combination of detailed civil engineering design work, followed by on-site project execution. The ideal candidate will start by developing the detailed civil engineering plans for various structures and infrastructures, then oversee and ensure alignment between design and construction on-site.

Key Responsibilities :

Site-Based Construction Supervision:

Review incoming designs, specify and coordinate required materials and equipment with procurement.
Produce detailed civil engineering plans for industrial structures and implement on-site modifications.
Supervise and coordinate site teams, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure work conforms to plans, specifications, safety standards, and local codes.
Monitor material quantities, conduct inspections, and field tests, and verify structural integrity and quality.
Track construction progress, resolve technical issues, and implement design changes as needed based on site conditions.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, structural, etc.) to integrate civil design into overall project plans.
Coordinate and oversee studies to ensure compliance with project and quality standards.
Serve as the primary liaison between engineering and construction for all civil-related matters.

Reporting & Documentation:

Prepare detailed reports on project progress, technical issues, and resolutions.
Maintain accurate records of design changes, field modifications, and construction updates.
Provide regular updates to project management on engineering and construction activities.

Health & Safety:

Adhere to and enforce G Mining’s safety standards, promoting a strong safety culture on the site.
Ensure all civil construction activities are performed safely and efficiently, in compliance with local and international safety regulations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
5+ years of experience in civil engineering, preferably in large-scale industrial or mining projects.
Strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles related to industrial infrastructure.
Experience in both engineering design and field supervision.
Proficiency in engineering design software like AutoCAD, Sap, Staad, Safe, etc.
Ability to work in a remote, site-based environment under challenging conditions.
Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Willingness to travel to the Oko West mine site for extended periods during the construction phase.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with gold mining or heavy industrial projects is an asset.
Familiarity with the environmental and regulatory requirements in Guyana or similar regions.
Previous experience working in remote locations.

2-year contract for the engineering and construction period, with the possibility of becoming a permanent contract once the mine is in operation.
