Role Description: The Production Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Macoya, responsible for leading daily plastics manufacturing operations across production departments to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. This role includes managing production schedules, labour resources, material utilization, and equipment performance to achieve production, quality, delivery, and cost targets.

The Production Manager provides leadership to supervisors and production teams, ensuring compliance with safety standards, operational procedures, and quality requirements. Key responsibilities include monitoring plant performance, driving continuous improvement initiatives, reducing downtime and scrap, optimizing labour utilization, and improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

The role requires close collaboration with Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, Planning, and Engineering teams to resolve operational issues, improve plant reliability, and maintain customer service levels. The Production Manager is also responsible for tracking and reporting key manufacturing KPIs, managing cost-per-ton performance, supporting inventory accuracy to improve productivity and operational performance.

Additionally, the role involves supporting strategic initiatives, capacity planning, workforce development, and projects focused on enhancing manufacturing efficiency, quality, safety, and business growth.

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in manufacturing and production management, with strong capabilities in production planning, scheduling, manpower allocation, and execution of daily manufacturing operations.
Proven ability to lead and develop production teams, including supervisors and operators, while fostering a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Experience analyzing production data, monitoring KPIs, and driving improvements in OEE, scrap reduction, labour productivity, throughput, and cost per ton.
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S, Kaizen, Gemba Walks, Visual Management, Root Cause Analysis, and Waste Reduction methodologies.
Solid understanding of manufacturing equipment, process controls, and maintenance principles, with the ability to work collaboratively with Maintenance teams to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
Experience managing quality systems, product specifications, process parameters, customer requirements, and corrective action processes within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of occupational health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, with a demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.
Experience in inventory management, material control, and production reporting, ensuring efficient utilization of raw materials, regrind, packaging, and finished goods.
Excellent organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple activities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, Planning, Engineering, Sales, and Senior Management teams.
Relevant degree or diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
Experience using ERP and reporting systems.
