About the Role

Bahamas Information Access Systems Limited (BIAS) is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Computer and Network Technician to join our technical services team.

This is a hands-on technical support position supporting a variety of business clients and IT environments. The successful candidate will provide both on-site and remote support, troubleshoot computer and network issues, assist with system installations and upgrades, and help maintain reliable and secure client IT operations.

The position is ideal for someone with strong technical fundamentals, good troubleshooting skills, excellent customer service, and a willingness to continue developing in networking, infrastructure, Microsoft services, cybersecurity, backup systems, and virtualization.

Key Responsibilities

Provide on-site and remote technical support to BIAS clients.
Troubleshoot desktop, laptop, printer, software, and connectivity issues.
Install and configure computers, peripherals and business applications.
Diagnose and resolve wired and wireless network issues.
Assist with installation and configuration of routers, firewalls, switches and wireless access points.
Support Microsoft 365, Outlook and related business applications.
Assist with user accounts, password resets, permissions and access-related issues.
Support VPN and remote-access solutions.
Assist with system maintenance, updates, and preventative maintenance.
Participate in workstation deployments, network installations, upgrades and technical projects.
Document service requests, troubleshooting steps, configurations, and completed work.
Escalate more complex issues to senior technical staff when appropriate.
Communicate clearly and professionally with clients regarding technical issues and resolutions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should have:

Practical computer hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
Familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Basic knowledge of computer networking, including:
TCP/IP
IP addressing
DHCP
DNS
LAN/WAN concepts
Wi-Fi networking
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Strong customer-service skills.
Good organizational and time-management abilities.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and support requests.
Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
Willingness to learn new technologies and develop technical skills.
Professional conduct when working at customer locations.

Preferred Qualifications

The following would be considered an advantage:

Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Networking or a related field.
CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ or similar certification.
Microsoft 365 support experience.
Windows Server or Active Directory experience.
Experience with switches, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, or wireless networking.
Experience with backup systems, virtualization, or cybersecurity tools.
Structured cabling or network termination experience.
Previous help-desk, field-support, MSP, or IT service-provider experience.

Work Environment

This position includes both office-based and field-support activities. The successful candidate will regularly visit customer locations throughout New Providence.

Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required for planned installations, maintenance, upgrades, or urgent technical support.

A valid driver's licence and the ability to travel to client locations are strongly preferred.
